Holland, MI

This trip to Holland, Mi was a couple of yrs ago. I've posted these pictures in honor of my FIRST tulip! My mama laughed when I told her spring had finally hit because down south it's long gone. It's so exciting to see my Daffodils, Bleeding Heart and Hosta again. I actually enjoyed pulling Clover out of my garden this weekend...ahh, Spring!

Sitting a spell...

I have been blogging now for 6 months and have loved every minute of it. All y'all make me smile on many levels and at times tears fill my eyes and prayers are lifted. There are so many amazing ladies out there and I am "meeting" them through what I call "Blogville"...it's been a great journey for me during such a long cold winter. I want to thank each of you for taking time to create all those wonderful posts.

I feel I should let y'all in on a bit of my world. All y'all know the economy is a tough one right now. I am in Michigan where it's been rough for many yrs. I don't know what the future holds for me and my family, but I am thankful to know WHO holds the future for my family. We have been blessed beyond measure and I know HE will continue to provide. I need to keep my focus on Him and not the storm that is around me. (hmm, reminds me of a Bible story...)

I am truly not one to "sit a spell" for very long...I've got things to do ; ) I think that's why God gave me the love of tea...so I would actually sit and relax.

Of late I've done a lot of sitting, pondering and praying. Here are places I've pondered with my cup of tea in the last few weeks. Speaking of tea...I think I'll put the kettle on.

A Winner and Sunshine

The winner of my little 50th post give-a-way is......Cherie at Bakow Babble ! Y'all hop on over to her blog and sit a spell. Just click HERE.

My how time goes by...when the sun shines. I truly feel better when I've been in the sun light. We've had some sunshine this week in Michigan. Up here in MI sunshine is scarce, especially in the winter. This photo was taken when I lived in Colorado. There are 302 days of sun in Colorado a year...last I checked MI has 74. The lack of sunny days and blue skies has been the hardest thing to adjust to living here. One Michigander told me..."You can't see all that house dust when it's cloudy, but when the sun comes out that dust is every where!" I think of her when the sun does come out and I see dust covering my cherry furniture...and I smile.

On our way to a B & B

Here we are last year at our favorite local tea house. I sadly say, it closed this January. The economy up here is a tough one. However, Sissy and I have fond memories of this tea house. She loved sitting by this window...you could see the flower garden from there. It was a beautiful old home remodeled into a tea house.
~~~~~
Sissy and I are headed to a B & B this week! Yep, just the girls...how fun it will be to have this time together.
~~~~~
My give away now closes on Friday night, the 10th. Sissy will draw a name on Sat. morning. (sorry to be so old school, you know, little slips of paper) She told me she wanted to choose the winner. If you want to enter, leave a comment on my last post. I'm off to Amish Country for some of that homemade pie, shopping and to sit a spell with Sissy and a cup of tea.

My 50th post and a little gift for you

Yes, it's my 50th post and I wanted to say thank you for making blogging so fun. There are tons of amazing blogs out there! Jules at The Roost was my inspiration. I thought about blogging for awhile and didn't...well she didn't doddle like I did! If you have not been to her blog, you must!

Just leave me a comment and I will enter you for my little 50th Post Giveaway! It will include a nine pack (variety) of Gold Canyon Candles tea lights, an auto freshener, TEA and homemade soap I picked up in Amish country. Ya never know, I might toss in a few more things! I've added the picture of Point of Grace because you can see the tea light box on the table! (Shelley could smell the nice scent and said with a smile..."is this food?!" )...she loves to eat. I'm thinking my 100th post give away will include one of those auto graphed Christmas CD's of theirs!

Anywho...leave a comment on this post if you want to enter. I will choose a winner on April 8th...next WED. It's Spring Break, so I may not post until then.

Stacey at Poofing the pillows is hosting It's Grilling Time...
Even though our weather up here is not really "grillin' weather"...(lots of snow & rain) we still do. Last weekend before the snow hit, hubby fired up the grill with my fav way to make burgers. Just like Stacey we like our ground beef 80/20 for grillin'. I add crushed crackers and a bit of milk to my meat along with whatever seasoning I use. (season salt, Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning or southwest and I add minced onion.) My little man does not like the texture of a "normal" burger, but he will eat "mamas burgers" ...he likes BBQ sauce (loves Paula Deens)...so I actually mix some into his burger before we grill it and add more during cook time. Home fries and a cold Coke make it perfect!

I am so ready...

  • I am finally feeling better. Being sick for 2 weeks was not fun. However, I am thankful that I truly am healthy. We are gearing up for Relay for Life and I am reminded of my young friend I lost last March to her fight against breast cancer. She left behind 2 small children that I pray for often. Please be involved with this Event in some way or another this Spring.

  • Don't ya just love the way kids enjoy the sights and scents of Spring as much as we do?! These shots are from last May in our back yard...well, not the last picture, it's last weekend...sigh.

I love snow and some fell this weekend, but it's time for it to GO!!! I am so ready for Spring and warmer temps!
