My huge bay window???

I love my huge bay window. It over looks the back yard, so I have it open ALL the time.
However, winter is setting in quickly up here and my view is not so lovely when it's brown. I now want to add a window treatment to shut out all those gray winter days. However, we get lovely snows too, so I would like to have a treatment that is easily opened. OK, the windowseat measures 14 feet...any ideas???

LOVE THAT WINDOW. I WOULD HAVE TO HAVE A NICE SOFT CUSHION MADE FOR THE WINDOW SEAT SO I COULD SIT THERE AND READ. MAYBE SOME ROLL UP SHADES FOR THE WINDOW?

What a beautiful window!! I would probably do some kind of roman shade with a pretty fabric and a nice cushy window seat!

Thanks for stopping by my blog yesterday!

Have a nice weekend!

Shell,
I'm so pleased you dropped by and said hello....we live in the great southern state of Georgia....about as southern as you can get....however, southern hospitality is available to everyone...no matter where you live....I think it's the way God would have us treat one another....

You mention your den window...I have a large window in our den which faces the west...we have wonderful, beautiful sunsets that we enjoy. We had plantation shutters installed that are easily and quickly opened and closed....that's our solution...

Please come again....Betty

Hi, Shelly, thanks for the note. My first idea for this window, would be of course to get a nice big cushion made for that seat and enjoy it. I'd do Roman shades or bamboo Roman blinds inside each window and then do a long panel on either side of the windows, 2 panels total. That would really frame your view. Lots of pillows too!

I do keep a quilt tri folded and laying across the windowseat now; I removed it for the photo. My little man likes to play cars on the window seat and constantly moves the quilt. However, he sat on the quilt yesterday while it snowed and he drank a cup of cocoa!

That's a really nice window!!! Maybe you could get some really nice curtains that you could pull back and tie neatly when you want to see the view or you could let them hang when you want to block out the weary days...

Oh yeah... thanks for stopping by my blog. I was so happy to have you.

What a beautiful window you have! I would do as the others said and get a cushion to sit in it and read. :)
Thank you for stopping by and for your sweet comments!

Hmmm... a pretty Roman shade would work, or you could do plantation shutters, which I love. They let the light in and you can close just the bottom ones and leave the top open to get some light. :)

Thank you for visiting my blog today and leaving me a me a message. I have a big picture window at the cabin. I put up simple panel draperies on rings. I find that the rings allow you to really push the draperies all the way back and get the full view of the window.

The shades I have in other windows still partially obscure the view when they are open.

I would also put a thick cushion covered in a warm fabric and then lots of pillows or bolsters around it!

The home I had when I lived in Las Vegas had a bay window (not quite that big though) and I ended up putting up plantation shutters. They keep out the heat and the cold. Not inexpensive though, but they last forever. And you can open them for the view.
